Troublesome Creek Silver

Dave Skinner

After a tour in the Navy and 30 years of corporate life, I retired to the Kremmling area to build my dream house and enjoy the mountains of Colorado. Then, I did some RVing and at one of the RV parks, out of boredom, I took a jewelry making class.

So, for the last 15 years I’ve been all about jewelry made of sterling silver, copper and semi-precious stones with lots of color. I like trying new things. A few of my latest adventures in jewelry are elk tooth ivory earrings, rings and pendants. I’m also working with a talented leather smith, Jim White, by adding some sterling silver and semi-precious stones to a few of his leather products. Now I’m currently working on sand casting replicas of a few old buttons. My wife found the buttons in her family’s store, Esmiol’s, located here in Kremmling. Esmiol’s opened in the 1920s and closed in 1999. Replicating an old design in a piece of jewelry is interesting and rewarding to me. I hope you enjoy the pieces I make as much as I enjoy making them.
